Ridgeway residents involved in wreck

A car was destroyed and three of its occupants were sent to a hospital following a single-vehicle accident Saturday in Franklin County, Virginia State Police reported.

Ronnie Prillaman of Ridgeway was traveling south on Virginia 772 (Holly Ridge Road) in a 2000 Dodge Neon about 5 p.m.

Trooper M.F. Austin said Prillaman told him that a black Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck that was heading in the opposite direction crossed the center line. According to Austin, Prillaman said he hit his brakes and they locked, causing him to strike an embankment.

The Dodge was a total loss, Austin said, and Prillaman and two passengers -- Kenneth Christian and Bethney Brock, both of Ridgeway -- were taken to Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital.

Christian was treated and released, Austin said. Prillaman's and Brock's conditions were not available Saturday.
