Lightning ignites fire at apartments
Lightning from a Monday afternoon thunderstorm caused a fire at Northridge Apartments in Roanoke, a fire official said.
Firefighters were called to the 5200 block of Lancelot Lane near Cove Road, where they saw flames coming through the roof, said Roanoke Fire-EMS spokeswoman Tiffany Bradbury.
The fire spread to three apartments, and one resident was displaced, Bradbury said.
No one was injured in the blaze. The fire caused about $35,000 in damage, Bradbury said.
