A Buena Vista man was killed over the weekend in a single-car accident in Rockbridge County, Virginia State Police said.

David Alan Lowe, 22, was driving a 1994 Acura Integra on Virginia 60, not far from Virginia 1570, when the crash occurred.

"Apparently his vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree stump and overturned," said state police spokesman Sgt. Bob Carpentieri.

He added that Lowe was not wearing his seat belt.

The crash scene was not visible from the highway, and the time of the accident is unknown.

Carpentieri said Lowe was last seen about 11 p.m. Saturday and the wreck was discovered by a passer-by about 4 p.m. Sunday.

He said the accident is under investigation.
