Police charge 58-year-old after robbery at First National Exchange Bank
Police arrested a man Wednesday and charged him with robbing a bank in Northwest Roanoke, a police spokeswoman said.
Officers were called to First National Exchange Bank in the 2600 block of Peters Creek Road about 3:35 p.m., said police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson.
A suspect had walked into the bank, demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, Johnson said. The suspect did not show a weapon.
Richard Wayne Carter, 58, was later located and arrested in a wooded area near the bank, Johnson said.
Carter is being held at the Roanoke City Jail with no bond.
