Assembly session to be fit for queen
RICHMOND -- So there will be another session of the General Assembly after all, a session fit for a queen.
The House of Delegates unanimously approved a resolution during its one-day reconvened session Wednesday to hold a joint legislative session in May during a visit by Queen Elizabeth II to Virginia.
The resolution is contingent on the British monarch's itinerary. She is scheduled to visit the state early next month with stops likely in Richmond, Williamsburg and Jamestown, which celebrates the 400th anniversary of its 1607 founding this year.
Buckingham Palace will announce the queen's schedule later this month.
