Sunday, July 23, 2006Who's got the best view?So who has the best view of the emerging new Art Museum of Western Virginia? The Mill Mountain Theatre actors staying at the Atelier, the renovated Shenandoah Hotel? Roanoke Valley Printworks owner John Reburn, who lives next to the work site? Office workers at the high rise Wachovia Tower? It's a judgment call, of course. But the O. Winston Link Museum's location is hard to beat. The view from the big back windows of the former Norfolk and Western passenger station, now home to the Link museum, overlooks the entire work site, from a vantage point of 15 or 20 feet. The view is so good, said Link museum operating manager Kim Parker, that they're talking with the art museum about installing an interpretive panel by the windows, to tell visitors what the project is all about. "We're getting a lot of questions from out-of-towners," Parker said. — Kevin Kittredge |
