Roanoke man sought in shooting
Authorities have obtained warrants against Derek Glenn Saunders in the shooting of Stafford Tyrone Thompson, 21, and 25-year-old Natasha Denise Kasey, both of Roanoke, said police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson. Thompson and Kasey were transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Johnson said it appeared the victims' injuries were not life-threatening. Hospital spokesman Eric Earnhart said he could not release information about the victims.
Saunders is charged with two counts each of malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Johnson said.
Johnson said a disagreement led to the shootings, which occurred shortly before 10 p.m. in the 2800 block of Salem Turnpike near Lans- downe Apartments.
Anyone with information on Saunders' whereabouts is asked to call the Roanoke Police Department at 853-2212 or the Crime Line at 344-8500.
