More Bedford Co. schools rated positively
Bedford County Schools achieved the Adequate Yearly Progress rating for the 2006-07 school year.
Earlier reports from the state Department of Education stated the school system did not show improvement on Virginia's Standards of Learning tests, according to Ryan Edwards, spokesman for Bedford County Public Schools.
Additionally, Stewartsville Elementary School, Jefferson Forest High School and Liberty High School made AYP. Earlier this year when the state released SOL data, the status for these schools had not yet been determined.
"This is the first time that Liberty High School has made it, and now all of our high schools made it this year," Edwards said.
More than 11,000 students are enrolled in Bedford County Public Schools. Of the 21 schools, three did not make AYP last year. Those schools are Bedford Elementary School, Bedford Primary School and Bedford Middle School.
