Octavia Johnson
Saturday, March 23, 2013
Roanoke Sheriff Octavia Johnson will seek re-election in November.
Johnson said this week that she plans to formally announce her candidacy Monday, at an 11 a.m. news conference at The Patrick Henry.
She has been sheriff for the past eight years.
“We will continue to raise the standards of the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office to serve the citizens of Roanoke with determination, integrity and professionalism,” she said.
Johnson is a graduate of Wytheville Community College, with an associate of applied science degree in police science with certificates in law enforcement and correction.
She is running as a Republican.
Tim Allen, a retired officer at the Western Virginia Regional Jail, and Joe Bush, a former Roanoke probation and parole officer, have been campaigning for the Democractic Party nomination for sheriff.
