Downtown Blacksburg to get Mellow Mushroom pizzeria later this year
The corporate office hasn't revealed the location, but one possibility is the former site of Backstreets Pizza and Grill.

Mellow Mushroom, a restaurant chain known for its gourmet pizzas, craft beers and eclectic dining experience, is coming to Blacksburg, a company official said Thursday.
Franchise development coordinator Felicia Low said the pizza chain has an approved site in downtown Blacksburg. The corporate office wouldn't reveal the location, but one possibility is the former site of Backstreets Pizza and Grill at Washington and South Main streets.
Backstreets General Manager Eric Sturm said earlier this month that the restaurant had been sold and will close April 6. Sturm said he believed another restaurant would be moving into the space.
Low said the Blacksburg Mellow Mushroom should open in December or January.
Leslie Knapp , the franchisee owner of Mellow Mushroom's Hickory, N.C., location, will operate the Blacksburg store, Low said.
Mellow Mushroom currently has two locations in Virginia, in Charlottesville and Bristol.
