'Extreme Makeover' Blacksburg edition
For more than two decades, ballerina Carol Crawford Smith danced in some of the largest and most prestigious theaters in the world and has taught hundreds of students in her Blacksburg studio.
Millions of viewers of ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" followed the world-class dancer and mother of two young sons from her modest Blacksburg house to a resort vacation in La Jolla, Calif., and back to her home on Ardmore Street in seven days. At the end of that journey, Smith, who was stricken with multiple sclerosis about five years ago, moved into a brand-new house.
The show aired Feb. 12, 2006. Take a virtual tour of the new house.
The show airs Sunday nights on WSET at 8. It features model and carpenter Ty Pennington (escorting Carol Crawford Smith from her house) and a crew of designers and carpenters who travel the country building new homes for deserving families selected by the show's producers from thousands of applicants. The crew gets seven days to demolish the old house and build a new one.
