McDonnell appoints 3 to board at Radford
Gov. Bob McDonnell's office has announced three new appointments to the Radford University Board of Visitors.
Stephan Cassaday of Great Falls, president of Cassaday and Co.; Milton Johns of Gainesville, a partner with the Day and Johns law firm; and Wendy Tepper of Forest, trustee and member of the board of directors of Delta Star, were named to the board, which sets university policies, approves employment decisions, oversees the university's budget and supervises the president.
All three have contributed to Republican candidates, according to the Virginia Public Access Project.
Cassady has given more than $30,000 to state Republicans since 2001, including $10,000 to McDonnell's gubernatorial campaign.
Johns has given $2,648 since 2004, including nominal amounts to McDonnell's campaign for attorney general and his gubernatorial inauguration.
Tepper is listed as giving just under $700 to a Republican candidate in 2003.
They replace Todd Barrish, former Roanoke Mayor Nelson Harris and Mary Ann Hovis. Hovis had served two consecutive terms and under board bylaws was ineligible for reappointment.
Barrish and Harris had served only one term each and were eligible for reappointment.
McDonnell reappointed sitting board member Linda Kaye Whitley-Taylor of Virginia Beach, executive vice president of human resources for Amerigroup.
The board is scheduled to meet Sept. 16 and 17 in Radford.
