Radford honors NCAA tourney-bound native son Mike Young, Wofford men's basketball coach
Mike Young, head coach of the Wofford College men's basketball team in Spartanburg, S.C., was honored this week by his hometown for leading the Terriers into the NCAA tournament for the first time.
Radford -- where Young graduated from high school in 1981 and where he was an assistant coach at Radford University -- has proclaimed today "Mike Young Day."
Wofford, which faces Wisconsin today in the first round of the tournament, advanced to the tournament after beating Appalachian State on March 8 for the Southern Conference title.
After graduating from Radford High, Young played basketball at Emory & Henry College, where he was a captain and later coached under Bob Johnson.
No matter whom you have in your brackets, Radford officials said in the proclamation that "all citizens support" the Terriers against the Badgers today.
