Pearisburg police seek witnesses to hit-and-run

The Pearisburg Police Department is asking for help in finding the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that seriously injured a woman last week.

Two vehicles crashed at 6:38 a.m. March 3 at the intersection of U.S. 460 and Thomas Drive, police said in a news release.

The driver of one of the vehicles, an elderly woman, was seriously hurt and remains hospitalized. The driver of the other vehicle left before officers arrived.

Evidence left at the scene of the crash indicate that the vehicle is either blue or green, police said, and is likely to have heavy front-end damage.

It struck the woman's car so hard that an imprint of part of the license plate was left on her car, police said. That imprint has been sent to a state laboratory for analysis, police said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Pearisburg police at 921-0340.
