RU centennial events set for this weekend
Homecoming at Radford University has been rescheduled for Friday and Saturday and will include events celebrating the school's centennial.
A winter storm forced a postponement of the event, which was originally set for Feb. 5 and 6.
Most previously advertised events have been included in the new schedule, including alumni teaching day, alumni basketball games, a tailgate, a brunch with President Penelope Kyle and the Highlander Polar Plunge at the New River.
Radford's women's basketball team will play Charleston Southern at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Dedmon Center. The men's team will play UNC-Wilmington at 7 p.m., according to a university news release.
Event registrations have been carried over automatically, and new registrations are still being accepted.
Basic registration is $25. Separate admission fees apply for the presidential brunch and the polar bear plunge, according to the release.
Anyone who registered previously but cannot attend this weekend is asked to contact Radford's alumni office at 831-5248.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Radford, which was founded in 1910 as a state teacher's college and women's auxiliary campus to Virginia Tech.
