Radford names new city manager

RADFORD -- The Radford City Council named David Ridpath as the new city manager Monday night.

Ridpath, who had been assistant city manager, was made acting city manager when City Manager Tony Cox left to become city administrator for Morristown, Tenn.

"Council all felt we needed to make the decision to promote David," Mayor Tom Starnes said. "We feel he'll do a good job as city manager."

Ridpath has served as assistant city manager since 2002, according to the city's Web site. He has been with the city since 1984, serving as community assistance coordinator, economic development director, and director of planning and community development.
