Council may table design board change; flu vaccine available
The council is expected to discuss the issue further at next week's council meeting.
Council members talked Tuesday during a work session about concerns they have heard from property owners in the historic district about the proposed ordinance.
The ordinance would make the town's Historic Design Review Board's recommendations mandatory, instead of advisory, when it comes to redevelopment plans for construction on a site where a contributing historic structure has been demolished or relocated.
Some owners say they are concerned about giving the review board a mandatory decision about the future of their properties.
Some council members said Tuesday that they are supportive of the concept behind the ordinance but also said that if a new ordinance is drafted they would like to incorporate input from property owners.
The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Municipal Building.
