The affected section is from milepost 39.8 (Fries Junction) to milepost 42.3 (Gambetta Road), according to a news release from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.

The following detour is in place:

From the Gambetta Road crossing traveling south on the trail take a right onto Virginia 793 (Gambetta Road). Travel about three miles to Virginia 607 (Iron Ridge Road). Take a right onto Iron Ridge Road and go about three miles to Virginia 721 (Fries Road). Take a right onto Fries Road and follow the signs to the Fries access, which is about 4.5 miles.

The 57-mile-long New River Trail follows an abandoned railroad right of way through Grayson, Carroll, Wythe and Pulaski counties.
