Christiansburg vs. Bassett
Christiansburg High School's football team opened the playoffs with a 48-6 smacking of Bassett on Friday night. The Blue Demons (8-3) led 34-0 at the half.

This Friday, Christiansburg travels to Hidden Valley for a second-round matchup.
Also this weekend, Radford travels to play George Wythe in the second round. The Bobcats (8-3) beat Giles for the second time in two weeks, 14-6, on Saturday.
Eastern Montgomery, which received a first-round bye, will be at home this weekend to play Bath County, which defeated Narrows on Friday evening.
