A training exercise for the Blacksburg Fire Department and the Virginia Tech Rescue Squad will close Smithfield Road in Blacksburg between Tech's equine center and Plantation Road on Wednesday.

A wreck will be simulated during the training exercise, which is not open to the public, according to a news release from the town.

The running/biking trail will not be affected.
