News briefs
PULASKI COUNTY
Virginia 609 to close for bridge repairs
A portion of Virginia 609 (Pine Run Road) in Pulaski County will close Nov. 16 to through traffic at its intersection with Virginia 100, so the bridge over Pine Run can be replaced.
Signs will be in place to detour traffic around this closure onto Virginia 658 (Delton Road) and Virginia 654 (Old Baltimore Road) and then onto Virginia 100.
Work is expected to be completed by Nov. 30.

BLACKSBURG
Town seeks input on bike routes
Blacksburg is seeking input from residents to identify routes that should be designated as contiguous bike routes.
The public comment period lasts until Dec. 2.
Riders are asked to provide information such as their typical biking routes, the types of bike paths they prefer and requests for amenities, such as lockers or bike racks.
Residents can submit comments at www.cgit.vt.edu/ProjectWebs/Bikepedsurvey, which allows the participant to plot their routes on an electronic map of the town, or by using paper maps at the following locations:
n The Blacksburg Motor Co. building, 400 S. Main St.
n East Coasters, 1301 N. Main St.
n The Bike Barn, 708 N. Main St.
Using the paper maps, participants may highlight their preferred routes and provide comments on a prepared survey form.
The information collected will be used to prioritize route improvements, such as widening and improving roads for bike lanes.
For more information about the project, contact Priscilla Cygielnik, assistant director of public works, at 961-1142 or pcygielnik@blacksburg.gov.
