Floyd library plans clinic for H1N1 vaccines
Vaccines against the H1N1 flu will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Jessie Peterman library in Floyd.
The vaccines are free, but a donation to the library is suggested.
Dr. Joseph Baum will be providing doses, which are recommended for pregnant women or people who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months, according to a news release from the library.
If you are unsure if you should get the vaccine, check with your physician.

VCOM plans to offer training for NRV team
Certification courses in disaster response will be held at the Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg.
The training will allow participants to become part of the NRV Community Disaster Response Coalition Team, according to organizers.
The courses include Disaster Mental Health 101 and Disaster Spiritual Care and will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 20 in the VCOM Conference Center.
There is no cost, but registration is required by sending your name, phone number and affiliaition to cdrc@pemtel.net. Also specify which training you are interested in and your peer, clinical/clergy levels.
NAACP hosts event to honor servicemen
The Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County Branch of the NAACP will present a Veterans Day program Sunday.
The program will begin at 4 p.m. at Schaeffer Memorial Baptist Church, at 570 High St. in Christiansburg.
This year's guest speaker is Radford native and Naval Reserve Admiral Julius Caesar.
