Work will be performed during nighttime hours from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly through Thursday. In addition, guardrail work may cause shoulder closures during daytime hours daily through Friday.

Bridge patching: Weather permitting, lane closures may be in place for bridge patching on northbound and southbound I-81 at various locations between mile markers 150 in Botetourt County and 132 in Roanoke County. Work will be performed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. nightly through Thursday.

Mowing: Weather permitting, crews may mow along northbound and southbound I-81 between mile markers 118 and 143 in Montgomery and Roanoke counties. Watch for workers along the roadway and possible shoulder closures during daylight hours.

GILES COUNTY

U.S. 460 pavement repairs: A long-term lane closure will be put in place on eastbound U.S. 460 in Glen Lyn between Virginia 1308 (Houston Lane) and the West Virginia state line to patch pavement. Weather permitting, the left lane of eastbound U.S. 460 will be closed until Thursday afternoon.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY

Virginia 114 widening: Work continues to widen a section of Virginia 114 (Peppers Ferry Road) in Christiansburg between Stafford Street and Chrisman Mill Road near New River Valley Mall. Work will include widening Virginia 114 from two lanes to five, with two through lanes in each direction and a center turn lane. Traffic has been switched onto a new section of roadway and drivers should expect possible lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Shoulder closures are in place. Flaggers may direct traffic during daylight hours. Drivers should watch for new traffic patterns in this work zone.

Virginia 639 retaining wall construction: A section of Virginia 639 (Mount Pleasant Road) in Montgomery County is closed. The 0.2-mile section of Virginia 639 is just west of its intersection with Virginia 637 (Alleghany Springs Road). The road will be closed until late October, so a retaining wall can be constructed along Elliott Creek. Traffic is being detoured onto Virginia 638 (Georges Run Road) until the retaining wall is completed.
