Two disciplined after 4th school bomb scare in 9 days

Floyd County school officials have taken disciplinary action against two students they say are responsible for at least two of four bomb threats made since Oct. 7.

Neither student will return to school on Monday, Superintendent Terry Arbogast said Friday, and the school board will have a special session to discuss their enrollment status within 10 days. No charges have been filed, according to the sheriff's office.

Arbogast said the students confessed separately after a fourth threat was made Friday at Indian Valley Elementary School. He would not indentify the students, their ages or grade levels.

In the latest instance, a student wrote, "I have a bomb" on a bathroom wall.

A new "sign-out" system used to track students' whereabouts led the school's principal to the student, Arbogast said.

Administrators used the same system to determine the identity of the student who made a bomb threat Wednesday at Floyd Elementary School.

That student told administrators he was "angry at other students," Arbogast said. The superintendent also said that officials are close to determining who made two earlier threats at Floyd County High School.
