Two elected New River Valley officials will serve on a steering committee of Republicans and Independents for Democratic lieutenant-governor nominee Jody Wagner, the campaign annonced Tuesday.

The committee, made up of 21 Republicans and Independents from throughout the commonwealth, includes Blacksburg Mayor Ron Rordam and Giles County Treasurer Gerald Duncan.

"From the bipartisan budget in 2004 to the landmark Higher Education Bond Package last year, Jody has established herself as someone who puts people over politics, and is willing to work honestly with Democrats and Republicans to reach commonsense, bipartisan solutions," said Republican Mayor Will Sessoms of Virginia Beach, another member of the committee.
