LWV plans four candidate forums
From 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 1, the group will host a forum for candidates seeking office on the Montgomery County Public School Board in the meeting room of the county's Government Center, 755 Roanoke St, Christiansburg.
Candidates for District A are Phyllis T. Albritton (incumbent) and George R. Still, III. Candidates for District D are Jamie M. Bond (incumbent) and Leonard H. "Lenny" Session. The seat for District C has no candidates and will be determined by write-in ballots.
Two dates have been scheduled for Blacksburg Town Council candidate forums.
Both will be held in the Roger Hedgepeth Town Council Chambers, 300 S. Main St., Blacksburg from 7 to 9 p.m.
The first council forum will be held Oct. 5 and the second date has been set for Oct. 26.
Candidates for four spots are Susan Anderson (incumbent), John Bush, Bryce Carter, Krisha Chachra, Greg Fansler, Paul Lancaster, Frank Lau, Cecile Newcomb, Robert "Tom" Rogers and Michael Sutphin.
A candidate forum for two area Virginia House of Delegates seats will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 15 in the meeting room of the Montgomery County Government Center.
Candidates for District 07 are Dave Nutter (R, incumbent) and Peggy Frank (D). Candidates for District 12 are Jim Shuler (D, incumbent) and Paul Cornett (I).
All meetings are open to the public, and citizens are encouraged to attend and address written questions to the candidates during each forum.
