Residents invited to boards, commissions
The city of Radford is seeking residents to serve as representatives on various boards and commissions.
The following positions are available:
Agency on Aging: Two, one-year appointments ending Sept. 30, 2010.
Beautification and Municipal Forest Commission: Four, three-year appointments ending June 30, 2012.
New River Community College board of directors: A four-year appointment ending June 30, 2013.
Industrial Development Authority: Two, four-year appointments ending June 30, 2013. Representatives must represent Radford University or banking industry.
Library board: Positions are one, one-year appointment ending June 30, 2010, for a teen representative and two, four-year appointments ending June 30, 2013.
Recreation Commission: Three, three-year appointment ending June 30, 2012.
New River Valley Alcohol Safety Program: A one-year appointment ending June 30, 2010.
Zoning Board of Appeals: A five-year appointment ending May 28, 2014.
Radford EMS Commission: Three, three-year appointments ending June 30, 2012.
New River Valley Economic Development Alliance: Two, one-year appointments ending June 30, 2010.
New River Valley Criminal Justice Services Board: A four-year appointment ending June 30, 2013.
City/University Joint Commission:A one-year appointment ending June 30, 2010, for someone from east ward. And one, two-year appointment ending June 30, 2011, for someone who represents either merchants or landlords.
Tourism Commission: Three representatives needed to fulfill the remainder of one-year appointment until Jan. 1, 2010.
