Tech holds fourm on race, eduction
Virginia Tech will hold a public forum today on the legacies of segregation and integration in Virginia public education.
The forum will begin at 4 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre.
Tech programs earnspots in U.S. News rankings
Graduate programs in four Virginia Tech colleges are ranked in the latest U.S. News & World Report list released last week. Four programs in the College of Engineering moved up from last year and are all among the top 10 in the survey.
The College of Science’s psychology department is ranked 33rd among clinical psychology programs, and the career and technical education graduate program tied for fourth among vocational and technical specialties. The university’s public affairs program also received a ranking of 27.
Radford’s nursing grads do well on exam
Radford University’s School of Nursing family nurse practitioner concentration received a 100 percent pass rate in the certification exam of the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Graduates are required to pass the nursing exam to receive their license. The national pass rate for the exam is 93 percent.
Radford’s criminal justice program certified
Radford University’s criminal justice program received certification for its Master of Arts and Master of Science programs from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.
Radford is one of three institutions in the nation with criminal justice graduate programs that have earned ACJS accreditation, the university said in a news release.
Tech names building for Marshall Hahn
Virginia Tech has named its chemistry-physics building after former university President T. Marshall Hahn.
The 85,000-square-foot building is the second to be named for Hahn, who was president from 1962 to 1974, a period of major growth for the university.
The building will be known as Hahn Hall-North Wing. An adjacent building used for chemistry research was named for Hahn in 1990. It will now be called Hahn Hall-South Wing.
