Man, 67, killed in four-wheeler wreck

A man was killed in Giles County on Saturday night when he fell off the four-wheeler he was driving and struck his head on pavement, police said.

Mack A. Lucas, 67, of Narrows, was not wearing a helmet when he fell, said Trooper K.W. Spencer of the Virginia State Police.

Lucas appeared to have been driving northbound on Stockpen Mountain Road off Lurich Road near Narrows about 8:30 p.m. Saturday when he fell on the pavement, Spencer said.

It is legal to drive a four-wheeler on a highway only for farm use, Spencer said. It did not appear that Lucas was traveling for farming purposes.
