Montgomery schools superintendent to depart
Montgomery County Schools Superintendent Tiffany Anderson will be released from her contract effective June 30, it was announced at a board meeting Tuesday evening.
A press release from Anderson stated that she will be leaving as a result of family concerns, but that she has accepted a position as a superintendent at a district in Missouri.
"It will be very difficult to leave the staff and students I consider to be part of my extended family in Montgomery County," Anderson said in the news release. She did not comment further.
Board members expressed regret that Anderson would be leaving. Member Penny Franklin said that Anderson came into "frankly a mess and did a wonderful job righting at least some of that mess."
Board members said it is too early to talk about replacing Anderson.
In June, the board increased her pay and extended her contract by four years.
