The Wythe County man suspected of killing one neighbor, shooting and injuring another and setting fire to a house last month will continue to be held without bond.
Douglas Albert Jaccard, 58, made a brief appearance Thursday morning in Wythe County Circuit Court.
The hearing was set on a motion by Wythe County Commonwealth's Attorney Gerald Mabe to revoke Jaccard's bond on the charges he faced before the shootings and house fire took place Dec. 16 in the Barren Springs area, sparking a massive manhunt for Jaccard. He was captured at his home Dec. 18.
Jaccard had been scheduled to appear Dec. 17 in circuit court for a pretrial motions hearing on charges of indecent liberties, abduction and possession of explosive materials.
Jaccard was out on bond when he is suspected of fatally shooting Dyer Road neighbor Joseph Bane, setting fire to Bane's house and shooting and injuring neighbor Jerry Covey.
He is being held without bond at the New River Valley Regional Jail on charges related to the Dec. 16 incidents, including first-degree murder, but his bond on the indecent liberties charges had never officially been revoked. It was revoked at Thursday's hearing, for which Jaccard was brought into the courtroom wearing a red jail jumpsuit, handcuffs and leg irons.
Jaccard has a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 19 in Wythe County General District Court on the charges stemming from the shootings and fire. A hearing date on the indecent liberties charges is scheduled to be set next month.
He is being represented on all his charges by attorneys Alan Stratton and Jonathon Venzie and the public defender's office.
