Radford crash injures driver, kills husband
Radford police are investigating a single-car crash Saturday that left one person dead and another injured.
According to a news release issued by the city, the crash occurred in the 100 block of Forest Avenue.
A passer-by spotted the vehicle and called 911 at 1:12 p.m.
The driver, Glada Wade Lawrence, 78, of Radford, was taken to Carilion New River Valley Medical Center and then flown to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Life-Guard 11, the news release said.
Carilion spokesman Eric Earnhart said she was in fair condition Saturday night.
Lawrence's husband, Thalis Edward Lawrence, 83, also was taken to Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The crash is still under investigation, the news release said.
