Radford man hurt in crash
A Radford man was injured Wednesday when what police called an apparent medical emergency caused him to crash into an embankment on U.S. 460 in Blacksburg.
Joseph William Argabrite, 60, of Radford was seen by witnesses driving erratically in a westbound lane of U.S. 460 near Prices Fork and Glade roads about 11 a.m. His car veered suddenly to the right, ran up an embankment, struck a tree and rolled over several times before coming to rest upright on the roadside, Blacksburg Police Sgt. Nathan O'Dell said.
One lane of U.S. 460 was closed for about 45 minutes as police, fire and rescue worked, O'Dell said.
Argabrite was wearing his seat belt but suffered a severe laceration to his head and other injuries. He was taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital. His condition was unavailable Wednesday afternoon.
Police suspect Argabrite suffered a diabetic medical emergency just before the crash, O'Dell said.
No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported.
