What is it? An independently owned tanning salon in Christiansburg with four high-power tanning beds, four regular tanning beds, one stand-up tanning booth and one spray tanning booth.

Why it opened? "We thought it was necessary," Linkous said. The space previously was home to another tanning salon, and when that salon closed, the owners of Sevana Tan wanted to open a new, locally owned salon for a fresh start, she said. The previous setup also made it easy for Sevana Tan to bring in its equipment, Breeding said.

Best opening night/day moment: "People come in and say how nice and clean it looks, and how nice all of our girls are," Linkous said.

History: The tanning salon opened Aug. 25. The space had not been used for about a year. It is the first business for all the owners. "It's a learning process for all of us," Linkous said.
