Two people from Christiansburg were killed Tuesday evening when their car crashed on U.S. 460 in Rich Creek.

Vickie Lynn Rule, 46, and Donald Floyd Thompson, 58, died at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital shortly after the crash occurred about 6 p.m., said Sgt. Michael Conroy of the Virginia State Police.

Rule was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu from Old Virginia Avenue across the highway. She failed to yield to an oncoming pickup truck, which struck her car, Conroy said.

The driver of the truck, Robert L. Goff, 43, of Princeton, W.Va., was wearing a seatbelt and did not need to be hospitalized. His passenger, Ronald Auton Jr., 30, also of West Virginia, was not wearing a seatbelt and was taken to Giles Memorial Hospital, Conroy said.
