Free Clinic earns grant, hires nurse practitioner
The Free Clinic of the New River Valley will use the $47,301 it received from a Virginia Health Care Foundation grant to fund a full-time nurse practitioner.
The nurse practitioner, Helen Robinson, provides medical care, surgical referrals to specialists and ongoing acute and chronic care.
The money was the final installment of a three year grant that totals $147,159.
Hanlon receives award from Carilion Clinic
Andrea Hanlon, a clinical social worker in the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center's hospice services department, was awarded Carilion Clinic's Hand in Hand Health Award for her extended support and care of others.
She was selected by a systemwide group of her peers for the award, which is given annually.
Dufour named center's programming director
The governing board of directors for the Jacksonville Center for the Arts in Floyd has named Monique Dufour as its educational programming director.
She worked previously as an administrative faculty member at Virginia Tech, where she directed the University Writing Program at the Center for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.
