Car crashes into Blacksburg house

Blacksburg police are trying to determine what caused a man to lose control of his car and crash into a house Tuesday night.

The 2000 Ford sedan driven by Joseph Paul Monoski Jr., 61, of Blacksburg ran off the right shoulder of Prices Fork Road near the intersection with McBryde Drive just before 7 p.m. Tuesday. The car struck a street sign and a raised manhole cover before crashing into a house, Sgt. N.P. O'Dell said in a news release.

No one was home at the time, O'Dell said. The house sustained about $8,000 in damage.

Monoski was taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, O'Dell said. He said investigators are trying to determine whether Monoski suffered a medical emergency that may have led to the crash.
