New River Valley fireworks
The following is a list of some of the fireworks displays planned in the New River Valley:
Pulaski
Celebrations around Pulaski include a parade in Dublin, beach music at Calfee Park and a baseball game following the beach music concert. The New River Valley Fairgrounds also feature food and fun, a Hannah Montana impersonator and fireworks to top the celebrations off.
When: Parade: 11 a.m., Calfee Park festivities begin at 12:30 p.m. with Pulaski Mariners vs. the Princeton Rays at 4 p.m. Fairground festivities kick off at 4 p.m. with fireworks scheduled for at 9:20 p.m.
Where: Parade: begins at Dublin Primary School; beach music and baseball game: Calfee Park 700 S. Washington Ave., Pulaski; Fairgrounds: 5581 Fairgrounds Circle, Dublin.

Christiansburg
Enjoy a night of live music, games, raffle prizes and fireworks. Don and the Deltones will perform, and the kids play area is brought to you by Dave’s Moonwalks and More.
When: Gates open at 5 p.m. Friday, fireworks at 9:45 p.m.

Floyd
Live music, vendors, face painting and fireworks at dusk. Bring your lawn chairs.

Radford
A full day of celebration beginning at 7 a.m. with registration for a 5K race. There’s a bike rodeo, pony rides, a dog show, a mechanical bull and a karaoke contest. There’s also music from the Java Brothers and Jimmy Fortune and, of course, fireworks.

Shawsville
It’s a real piece of Americana, an old fashioned Fourth of July if ever there was one. There’s a parade, music, food, kids’ activities, a magician, a juggler, a dunking booth, a petting zoo, face painting, raffles, an auction (that raises money for community service projects) and fireworks.
When: 5:30 p.m. Friday
Where: Parade: Down Shawsville’s Oldtown Road; Everything else: The old football field, off Oldtown Road.

Blacksburg
Celebrate with a downtown parade at 2 p.m., followed by a free screening of “National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets” at the Lyric Theatre. Then head out to Municipal Park at 6 p.m. for performances by the Blacksburg Community Band and Jimmy Buffet tribute band the LandSharks. Fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m. Blacksburg Transit will run shuttles to the park beginning at 5 p.m. For routes and schedules, see btransit.org.
