Stormy weather is the likely cause of a house fire in Blacksburg on Sunday.

The fire started about 3 p.m. Sunday after lightning struck the roof above a second-floor bedroom at 1300 Hillcrest Drive, a news release from the Blacksburg Fire Department said.

The house, owned by Walter Mosby, is not occupied. It's in the process of being sold, and no one was there when the fire started. A passing motorist reported the fire, which did about $10,000 in damage to the roof, bedroom and a bathroom.
