Wreck piles truck on top of van

There were no serious injuries in the Blacksburg crash. All the people involved were wearing their seat belts, police said.

Six people managed to escape serious injuries Sunday in a violent Blacksburg crash that ended with a truck on top of a van.

The crash happened just after 4 p.m. on U.S. 460 between Toms Creek Road and North Main Street.

A 1994 Honda two-door car driven by Dorothy Snider, 67, of Bluefield, W.Va., was headed west when it struck a guardrail, Blacksburg police Capt. Bruce Bradbery said.

The car then crossed the median and went into the eastbound lanes, where it struck a Chevrolet van.

The van hit a Toyota pickup truck, rolled several times, and struck the truck again.

The tow hook on the front of the truck caught on the van and, as the van rolled, the truck was pulled on top of it, Bradbery said.

The car came to rest in the middle of the eastbound lanes.

Snider; the van's driver, Ozgar Ince, 29, of Blacksburg; the truck's driver, Benjamin Creger, 24, of Blacksburg; and three passengers inside the truck were taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital for treatment and later released, Bradbery said.

Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt, he said.

The eastbound lanes of U.S. 460 remained closed for about two hours while the van and truck were untangled and the wreckage was cleaned up, Bradbery said.

Snider was charged with failing to maintain control of her car.
