Flooding hits numerous roads in the New River Valley

Weather alerts

With a flash flood warning in effect until 7:45 p.m. and a watch in effect until midnight throughout the New River Valley, the Virginia Department of Transportation has sent word that numerous roadways in Montgomery, Giles and Pulaski counties are being affected by high water.
 
Among those being listed with traffic problems due to water on the roadway:
 
In Montgomery County:
Ellett Road
Cedar Run Road
Crab Creek Road
Boners Road Road
 
In Pulaski County:
Virginia 602
Graham Road
 
In Giles County:
Doc Carr Road
Patterson Road
 
The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has forecast very heavy rain falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour this afternoon and into tonight. The NWS says it could produce flash foods and mudslides in an area hit hard two weeks ago by heavy rains.
