Volvo Trucks to hire back 270 former employees
Volvo Trucks North America in Pulaski County will
recall 270 former employees back to work next month because of increasing orders
for new trucks.
Company spokesman John Mies said this afternoon the
rehiring is triggered by “a significant increase in production.”
Recalled employees will report the week of Sept. 6.
Volvo and other heavy duty truck makers
dramatically reduced production and
employment in 2008 and 2009 in response to falling sales. The Volvo plant
employs 1,200 people today, the company said.
