The Montgomery County School Board released this afternoon the names of three finalists for its open superintendent's job.
They are:
* Brenda Blackburn of Rockledge, Fla., associate superintendent in the Division of Curriculum & Instruction and Staff for the Brevard County Public Schools
* Scott Kizner, superintendent of the Martinsville City Schools
* Annie Wimbish, superintendent of the Hattiesburg, Miss., schools
All three are scheduled to visit Montgomery County on Monday.
The finalists will be introduced individually at a community forum beginning at 7 p.m. at Christiansburg Middle School, according to a news release from the school board.
Each finalist will present opening comments and will respond to questions submitted by the public during the forum, facilitated by representatives of the district's hired search firm, Ray & Associates.
Attendees will also be able to provide written comments.
Board members want to fill the superintendent's post, vacant since Tiffany Anderson left in June to take over a small charter school in Kansas City, Mo., by the end of the year.
Interviews with semifinalists, who were not named, happened earlier this week, school board members have said.
Walt Shannon, the district's assistant superintendent of operations, has been interim superintendent.
