Two settle, one sued in gouging action
Virginia's attorney general said Thursday it sued Salem gas station Main Street Citgo and signed settlements with two other Roanoke Valley fuel retailers -- Ran Express Stop in Roanoke and Liberty Two Stars in Salem -- over alleged violations of the state's price-gouging statute.
The cases are the latest in a series of legal actions over gasoline price spikes in the wake of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike in fall 2008.
Consumers paid prices of $5 or more for a gallon of regular gasoline in the storm’s wake, leading to a host of price-gouging complaints.
