Montgomery County Sheriff's Cpl. Jason Milburn examines the crash scene on U.S. 460 on Saturday.

Montgomery County authorities have released the identities of the three fatalities in Saturday's three-car crash on U.S. 460 between Christiansburg and Blacksburg.

Thomas Warden, 27, of Floyd County was pronounced dead at the scene. Joseph Fisher, 27, of Blacksburg, and Charles Novak, 36, of Christiansburg, died soon after being taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital.

Two female victims who were in the cars are now in stable condition, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. Their names have not been released.

One of the cars was traveling west on U.S. 460 east before the crash, which was reported about 6:30 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said.

The cars involved were a two-door Pontiac Sunfire, a four-door Oldsmobile Alero and a four-door Honda, said Sgt. T. D. Shepherd. He declined to say who was traveling in each vehicle.

U.S. 460 east and one of the two lanes in U.S. 460 west were closed Saturday night while the regional crash team re-constructed the crash, Shepherd said. The cause of the crash remains unclear.

No one had been charged and the incident was still under investigation by Sunday afternoon, Shepherd said.
