Pulaski police hunt for suspects impersonating town workers
Two men have been posing as public works employees in Pulaski to get into the homes of elderly people.
Pulaski police received complaints about young men who knocked on the doors of two houses Tuesday afternoon and claimed they needed to check the water pressure or inspect the sewer pipes, Chief Gary Roche said this morning.
Once inside, one of the men disracted the homeowners while the other looked around the homes, which were on Henry and Franklin streets, Roche said. Some cash was taken from one of the homes, he said.
Anyone who is approached by someone claiming to be a public employee and asking to enter the home should call 911, Roche said. It would be helpful, he said, if a description of the men could be noted as well as a description of any nearby vehicle.
All public works employees wear town of Pulaski uniforms and have identification cards, Roche said.
Employees of a contractor in town installing new water meters will be wearing blue jackets wearing the Matchpoint company logo, Roche said. Neither employees of the town nor the contractor should ask to enter your home, he said.
