Radford man killed in wreck
Radford police are investigating a single-car crash Saturday that left one person dead and another injured.
According to a news release, the crash occurred in the 100 block of Forest Avenue. A passerby spotted the vehicle and called 911 about 1:12 p.m.
The driver, Glada Wade Lawrence, 78, of Radford, was taken to Carilion New River Valley Medical Center and then flown to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital via Life Guard 11, the release said. Hospital spokesman Eric Earnhart said she was in fair condition Saturday night.
Lawrence’s husband, Thalis Edward Lawrence, 83, also was taken to Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The crash is still under investigation, with the assistance of the Christiansburg Total Station Crash Reconstruction Unit.
