Club sponsor cleared in porn incident at Floyd Co. High
The investigation into how students at Floyd County High School viewed pornography during a club assembly is complete, according to Superintendent Terry Arbogast.
Arbogast sent a letter to high school parents and posted it on the high school's Web site that said the students in the SADD club glimpsed a five-second clip that was downloaded onto club adviser Stan Hawkins' school-issued computer "during the summer time, off school grounds, during non-school hours."
The letter said the pornography clip had been saved "unknowingly" and that Hawkins "was not directly involved" and "did not have any knowledge" of the download occuring. It also said administrators had no evidence of other students or staff from the high school being involved.
Hawkins had been on leave since the incident happened Friday. Arbogast said Hawkins would be returning to school, although he would not specify a date.
Arbogast said the school system would train teachers to keep a similar incident from happening again.
