Deer crash through glass doors at Radford University
Two deer crashed through the double glass doors of an administrative building at Radford University this morning, leaving a mess in their path.
Three deer had been spotted crossing Radford's campus just before 11 a.m., university spokesman Rob Tucker said. One of them continued through campus, but another crashed through the doors on the south end of Walker Hall, near Washington Hall, and was followed by the third, he said.
One of the deer ran back out of the building and wasn't seen again, Tucker said. But another made its way up the stairs to the second floor, leaving a trail of blood and fur.
A Radford animal control officer was able to catch the deer and take it outside. The deer had been seriously injured by the glass doors and died before a game department biologist could arrive with tranquilizer, Radford police Chief Don Goodman said.
Tucker said no people were hurt in the incident. The deer didn't cause any serious damage other than the doors, which will have to be replaced, he said.
