Former Floyd teacher agrees to plea deal in sex case

Former Floyd County teacher Daniel Farmer plead guilty this morning to misdemeanor sexual battery of a 15-year-old girl.
As part of a plea deal, Farmer won't serve any jail time -- he received a suspended 12-month sentence -- but he must complete 400 hours of community service, register as a sex offender, and he will be on probation for two years.
Farmer had been charged with a  felony count of oral sodomy.
Farmer taught at Floyd Elementary School for nine years before resigning from his job as a media specialist last September.
He also served as an assistant softball coach for Floyd County High School's girls' softball team.
